Female Future: Roundtable with International Female Founders

On March 8, 2023, the International Women’s Day, the FH JOANNEUM and its partners hosted the Female Future education & career fair at the FHJ Kapfenberg site for the second time. On the one hand, these partners of the FHJ, namely the SFG-Styrian Business Promotion Agency, the WKO-Chamber of Commerce Bruck-Mürzzuschlag, the Municipality of Kapfenberg, the AMS Styria and zam Styria were represented on site. On top, around 20 regional companies also had a booth. The aim of this event was to get people from Hochsteiermark, especially women, interested in technical professions and into the possibility of self-employment. Thus, participant had the chance to get on the one hand general information about support offered by various organisations and in addition could directly talk with regional enterprises. The more than 200 visitors on site took also advantage of the childcare, lectures and application trainings and checks, but were also interested in the various studies of the FH JOANNEUM and the Gründer:innen Zentrum KAIT-Kapfenberg Accelerator&Incubator for IT.

In the afternoon, at the KAIT online event International Roundtable for Female Founders, three female founders from different countries discussed opportunities and obstacles for female entrepreneurs. The female entrepreneurs were Bettina Ganglberger with Betti-licious from Styria, Maryrose Francica with Skillzone from Malta and Selin Yigitbasi-Ducker with the social enterprise Goodsted based in England. Over 50 people from all over Europe followed the lively online discussion moderated by Prof. Huriye Toker from Turkey’s Yasar University Women Research Center, Turkey.

With regard to the business climate in their countries, all female entrepreneurs thought it was rather favorable and all were glad that they had started their business early. If you have a strong “why” and you are passionate about what you do, being an entrepreneur could be ideal to combine your job with your family/childcare and other private activities. On top, maybe women consider more often the social and environmental impact of their company. In hard times, as an entrepreneur one has to be optimistic and learn a lot, but the reward is that you can live your dream and your passion.

This event was recorded and can be viewed bellow. On our website www.kait.at you will also find information about KAIT and its events.
